Get Wimbledon ready
Some fun ideas to get SW19 styled...
Happy June. By the end of the month, Wimbledon will have started and tennis fever will be gripping the UK. I will do a full preview and behind the scenes from SW19 nearer the time but, to help you get prepared, here’s something a little different.
I did a couple of versions of this style of post in F1 last year and they went down surprisingly well, so if you are wanting to get Wimbledon-ready, it’s better to start sooner rather than later. Click the underscored links for more information and, just to clarify, I haven’t been gifted or paid to promote anything below.
The best place to start is with the coveted Wimbledon towels from Christy, the official maker of the same ones that the players get. Last year’s champion, Iga Świątek, made no secret of the fact she was taking as many from the court as possible for family and friends after every match!
The picnic towel blanket is very smart and ideal for Henman Hill, the queue or a picnic in the park. It is summer and the UK, so if you are planning anything outside then you’d better pack an umbrella. This one from Original Duckhead reminds me of one I had at school. Add in Snoopy and tennis and I am sold.
Staying with the Snoopy theme, Steiff, the famous makers of teddy bears, have a Snoopy tennis cuddly toy which is far too cute to let a child play with!
Ralph Lauren might be the official clothing supplier of The Championships, but there are plenty of sweaters and clothes on the market at non-designer prices.
This men’s jumper from Abercrombie & Fitch is currently in the sale. The dress from Varley is surely too stylish to wear on the court - unless you are playing on Centre Court, that is.
Of course, you have to finish with a pair of classic Adidas Stan Smith trainers, named after Stan Smith, the former world number one and two-time Grand Slam champion. There are so many to choose from.
If you have been at SW19 or had a busy day, then who doesn’t want to sit back and relax in Christy’s stylish tennis pyjamas and Laines tennis slippers? If that’s not overkill, then light some delightfully kitsch tennis ball candles.
Kiss My Ace bag is another Wolf and Badger treat. They have a brilliant range. And if you need a little tennis-themed trinket or gift for someone, then this bag charm is ideal.
Game, set and match.
